1. Add a white t-shirt and a pair of jeans that are NEVER ripped to your wardrobe!
2. A trench coat is a must! Even if you have a short neck, vintage and long trench coats are irreplaceable.
3. If you’re going to cut bangs, learn how to cut them yourself. Have the first cut done by a trusted hairdresser, then take care of the rest on your own.
4. Foundation is your biggest enemy. You don’t have to hide your natural skin. If you have acne or blackhead problems, just use an under-eye concealer cream.
Sample brand: Yves Saint Laurent – Touché Éclat
5. Get used to shopping vintage. You don’t need to spend crazy amounts of money to build a wardrobe. Research, look everywhere, be the best at vintage fashion!
For Turkey: Dolap / Gardrop
For Europe: Vinted / Vestiaire
6. Give up on French manicures. Parisian women take good care of their nails and sometimes apply any color they want. Putting evil eye beads or butterfly stickers on nails is not attractive.
7. For lipstick choices, two options:
* If your outfit is very colorful: Peach / Baby pink
* If your outfit is simple: Red (Never betray red.)
Sample brands: Rare Beauty, Les Filles en Rouje
8. You don’t have to create drama on the eyes. Your natural lips and light blush are already enough. But if you still want to, you can go for Lancôme Hypnôse as a sample brand. Don’t forget a light touch on the lower lashes too.
9. Perfume: French women usually have two perfumes:
* A classic perfume they use all the time (for example, Chanel No.5)
* A perfume they call a “betrayal perfume” – something lighter and more subtle.
My choice: Chanel Noir (especially in winter, I’m in love with the scent it leaves on my scarf.)
As my betrayal perfume, I’d like to choose Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue.
10. And the most important: Attitude! I think nothing I listed is as important as attitude.
* Careless but careful
* Natural but never unprepared
* Never late for a date, but also never arrives early
Chaotic and rushed, but still organized, simple, and in control.
These are the things I’ve learned.
If you have things to share, too, I’d love to hear them!
